LA CROSSE, Wis., (October 19, 2024) – We want to clarify an error in the recent mailer about our upcoming referendum. Under the “Proposed Solution” section, there was a typo that incorrectly described the planned school consolidations.
The mailer mistakenly stated, “Most students, teachers, and staff from Spence and Hintgen will move to Hamilton Elementary.” This is not accurate, and we want to correct the information.
Here’s the correct plan for the referendum, which funds a $53.5 million investment in our schools with just a $0.40 increase over the current mill rate:
- Hintgen Elementary: Most students from Hintgen Elementary will move to State Road Elementary, upgraded with eight new classrooms and a gym. Some students from Spence and Hintgen will move to Hamilton Elementary.
- Emerson and Spence Elementary: Most students, teachers, and staff will move to a new, consolidated elementary school located at the site of the current Hogan Administrative Building.
We apologize for the confusion and appreciate your understanding. Our goal is to provide clear, accurate information so you can make informed decisions about this important referendum. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools and community.
